NEW JERSEY Interest Rates: Pre-Judgment: 6%, Judgment: Up to the court. Rates are normally set each year at such a rate and if the award amount is more than what the special civil part maximum (currently $15k) you add 2 percent (instead of the current 1.5% it would be 3.5%). Unless it was on contract and ordered so by the judge it could bear interest up to 30% (depending upon the contract's rate). As of Jan 1, 2011, the interest rate will be 0.5%, or 2.5% if past the special civil limit.
