Big dollar Judgments

August 9, 2023

What about big judgments, with a lot of money involved?

A judgment is only worth the actual value of the debtor assets made available to pay it. Judgments are usually not worth anything close to their face value.

Large judgments take much more time and money to enforce. The more assets a debtor has, the more likely they have hidden or protected it, and the more likely they will use a lawyer to try to fight enforcement or try to vacate the judgment.

Once in a while, a very large judgment has a deep-pocketed debtor. When big judgments are enforced easily – Judgment enforcers may reduce their fee. When available debtor assets are massive, all things are negotiable. See our Big Judgments article article.
