Judgment Recovery As A Game

August 12, 2023

I am a judgment broker, and am not a lawyer. My articles are my opinions, and not legal advice. If you ever need any legal advice or a strategy to use, please contact a lawyer. Winning a lawsuit and getting your money judgment is nice, however that alone does not mean justice. Justice only comes when the judgment debt is at least partially repaid.

Judgment recovery is serious work. However, similar to “whistling while you work”, the right attitude can help make judgment recovery more like a game. In many ways, most of the challenge of recovering a judgment is gathering information, and determining how to best use the information to recover the judgment, much like solving a puzzle or playing a strategy game.

Most judgments are never recovered, and judgment recovery is usually a very challenging game. If judgment recovery was certain, it would not be as much fun. As with modern computer-based games, when one gets stuck, they might be able to “buy hints” by hiring a private investigator, or by paying some asset discovery service.

Although about 90% of judgments are never recovered, with the right information, and with the correct application of judgment enforcement tactics; you can increase your chances to recover a judgment. Judgment recovery, similar to many businesses, is often like a chess game. What you do when the world is quiet, is very important.

It is best to approach a judgment recovery more like a cat would, not as a dog would. A dog chases targets (with or without “assets”) mostly on reflex. While hunting, a cat often plans their attacks carefully and with patience. Cats use two hunting strategies, either stalking prey actively, or waiting in ambush, until an animal comes close enough to be captured. With either strategy, cats are “active” and “alert” for any opportunity (including luck or mistake by their prey) to pounce on “assets”. This analogy only goes so far, so do not play with or torture your debtor, just have the Sheriff levy the debtor’s assets and then stop.

If you reach a dead-end with a judgment recovery campaign, put the game pieces down, and be patient; because things can change. Most judgments can be enforced for many years, often ten or twenty years. Especially if the economy comes back, perhaps if they legalize hemp for energy production and job creation, more judgment debtors will have jobs again. With judgment recovery, time can be on your side.

Judgment recovery can be an enjoyable competition between you, the laws that tend to hinder justice in judgment recovery, and your judgment debtor. Turning down the temperature on your emotions can be much better for your health, and can also help you find success in recovering your judgment money. It is best to use logic instead of emotions, when making intelligent decisions about judgment recovery strategies.

By looking at a judgment recovery process as a game, you can take pleasure in every success that you experience in your recovery campaign, even little successes. There is no need to feel stressed out when you hit a dead-end trying to recover a judgment.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes what you spend is good money spent after bad, and sometimes the judgment debtor files for bankruptcy and it is game over. It is all part of the game. Relax, and make this a game that you are playing. When you treat your job as a game, you increase your chance of winning, and are more likely to accept all outcomes as being OK.
