Why Do They Need My Social Security Number?

August 12, 2023

Q. Why do some Judgment Enforcer and Lawyers want to know my social security number. I’m not the debtor, so why do they want it?

A: The most common reason a judgment owner’s social security number is requested is to verify on PACER that the judgment owner has not filed for bankruptcy protection.

The problem is that if someone files for bankruptcy protection, all assets (even unknown ones such as judgments) are included in the asset list. If a bankruptcy trustee sees a judgment, they may want it included in the bankruptcy asset pool.

There may be other reasons, ask the judgment enforcer. With JudgmentBuy, there is always more than one choice in judgment enforcers, collection agencies, or contingency collection lawyers. JudgmentBuy has lots of solutions for your judgment.
